Meet the Founder: Annie
I am so glad our paths have crossed! If you are like me, you have a HUGE heart for kids, including their development as proficient writers, but also for them to be seen, heard and valued! I also have a heart for teachers (whether that be classroom teachers, principals, or parents)! I know you want to pour everything you can into the child in front of you. I do, too! And, that’s why I created Annie Palmer Consulting.
My journey in education began in 2003. I spent ten glorious years in the classroom and loved every minute of it. I felt called to make a bigger and different sort of impact–in the area of curriculum and instruction. This is where I have spent the last 11 years of my career as I have taken on the role of literacy coach, reading interventionist and curriculum coordinator in literacy. Reading and writing play a special role in my life–one that has helped me grow, reflect and use literacy as a force for good.
I had the joy of leading a district as it overhauled how it did writing curriculum and instruction with a focus on engaging students, writing for authentic purposes and creating an environment where students wrote for a purpose way beyond a test or for an assignment. They wrote for themselves. And, the beautiful part of this–this led to higher test scores in addition to the love of writing that grew in our district.
I have had the honor of walking beside some of the best–Matt Glover, Kate Roberts, and Jennifer Serravallo’s team. Partnerships we had with these individuals grew my knowledge and the writing engagement and proficiency of students in our district.
My goal in everything I do in literacy coaching and consulting–keep the students at the center of our work! Invest in them, nudge them, and allow their voices to be heard via writing. The world needs their voice and is better when its out there!

Meet Our Expert Team

Nicole has taught elementary for ten years. She brings a lens of teaching at the primary level, with most of her experience in grades first and second. Although, she has also taught Spanish in grades K-4. She loves teaching all contents, but especially writing and math. Nicole enjoys teaching students to be an advocate for their own learning by setting goals, giving feedback to their peers, and trying new things, all of which increase engagement. In addition to teaching, Nicole has had a plethora of training in writing, served as a writing lab teacher and a curriculum writer. She enjoys pouring into others and helping them grow.

Carissa has taught elementary for 17 years. She brings an elementary lens that includes classroom experience in primary and upper elementary. Her heart beats for curriculum and instruction! One of Carissa’s biggest passions as an educator is the importance of empowering her students to drive their own writing. This means making authentic decisions about their writing, learning from mentor and model texts, applying their thinking in a variety of contexts, and being taught exactly what they need as an author in that moment to enhance their craft, structure, and genre. She also loves leadership, having served as a writing lab teacher and curriculum writer for both reading and writing.

Angel has taught for 24 years. She brings a pre-K and elementary lens that includes experience from Pre-K to grade one. She is so excited for this opportunity to share, collaborate, learn and grow alongside such talented educators. Angel has a M.Ed as a Reading Specialist, will soon complete LETRS certification and has over 20 hours of Orton-Gillingham training. I have been a mentor, a curriculum writer for reading and writing units and a lab demonstration teacher for guided reading as well as readers workshop. She has collaborated with many educators to grow as teachers of writing by doing the work we are asking of our students. She is a passionate life-long learner who strives to give her students and colleagues experiences daily to help develop a strong growth mindset and a love of reading and writing.
